Whodunit: How do we reframe education from something done TO students to something done WITH students?

Who carries the cognitive load in your classroom? The challenge with virtual learning is facilitating instruction that allows for self-directed learning, developing metacognitive strategies, and empowering student agency in the classroom. Many online learning platforms have technical limitations that complicate these efforts. InSpace, now available in Canvas to all ICCOC instructors, offers a different approach. We’ll explore how you can leverage this tool with best practices to decrease student dependence on the instructor and increase opportunities for productive struggle and student-led inquiry in the classroom. Stop by to try out brain-based learning strategies based on neuroscience and culturally responsive pedagogy that frame the instructor as a facilitator and help students shoulder the cognitive load.
